After a long stint of the blues, I sought the sweet candy colors of the Interior's alpine glow in a painting of Denali's Wonder Lake. Experimentation in bold color and mark making, including very runny, transparent washes and calligraphic marks gave me new confidence in leaving familiar territory - both place and technique. Just like a wilderness sojourn, I found a new sense of spaciousness and courage.
